Literature Analysis Questions #1

you cant have my planet, but take my brother please

Q: Briefly summarize the plot of the novel.

this story starts off with the character named Giles and he is very miserable. he has a sister that he looks after so much because he doesn't want to leave his sister like his brother did. so he goes into the forest to stop and think when a huge tornado started, but it wasn't a tornado, it was a spaceship. He meets with some aliens that at first he thinks are pretty cool, but as time passes he finds out that the aliens are here to take over the planet because the aliens think that the humans are not talking good care of the planet. So it is Giles's job to prove to the aliens that the humans are worth saving and that they are not taking the earth for granted.

Q: Succinctly describe the theme of the novel.  Avoid cliches.

the theme of the story is to stop and take sometime to appreciate all the good things that are this world. So much people are constantly going on and trying to make a good impression, but they never just stop and really breath in on all the good things in life.

Q: Based on the author's tone, describe how you imagine the author's morning routine.  Does s/he get up early or sleep late?  Coffee, tea, or no caffeine?  Yoga/meditation/exercise?  Groggily stumble to the toilet and wish s/he wasn't so hungover?  Breakfast?  If so, what kind of food?  No, I am not kidding.  There is no shortcut for this, only your own imaginative thinking based on how you read his/her work and interpret his/her tone.  Include no fewer than three (3) excerpts from the text that illustrate your points.

If i had to describe the authors morning routine I would have to say that he would wake up and be thinking of all the great stories that he can put on paper so that other people can love his writing like he does. The author probably sleeps late because of all the ideas that he doesn't want to lose in his mind so he wants to get the main points on paper. Probably coffee so that he can keep writing and not get tired. He probably does meditation so that way he can stop and think for a bit on what he wants to write about. He probably doesn't drink, or i hope not. He probably writes as he is having breakfast. He probably has some eggs so that way he can get his proteins.

Q: Describe five (5) literary techniques you observed that strengthened your understanding of the theme and/or your sense of the tone.  These techniques may include characterization, figurative language, or anything else you've ever studied.  If you can't come up with five, do your best to remember and then look up "literary techniques" online and see if something rings a bell.  Include three (3) excerpts for each technique that will help your reader understand the technique and how it helped you gain insight.

One technique that i used was trying to take the characters and try to relate one of the characters to my own life. The author put some funny moments in the book which made me more understand the book a little bit more. I took the characters and tried to understand their character a little bit more. If i didn't understand a word I would either try to figure out what it meant based on the words around it or search the word up. If i didn't understand a certain part of the story I would read it over again.
